The 2009 Oscar nominations see The Reader with Kate Winslet favoured by the Academy and are dominated by films which were released in the narrow window before the announcement.
It took a while, but Kate Winslet's two-tier award campaign has run out of steam – we'll get a maximum of one speech out of her at the Oscars. On the plus side, it'll be the award most people agree she deserves, and she's the clear favourite to win.
