I grew up poor so television was a luxury I rarely had. The only occasions I caught Full House or Chip N' Dale: Rescue Rangers was a sleepover at a friend's house. Books were my main source of entertainment. I read the works of R.L. Stine, Shel Silverstein, Lewis Carroll, J.K. Rowling, Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Emily Dickinson, John Steinbeck etc. I was pretty much a full-blown bookworm by 4th grade at a high school reading level. I didn't know this at the time though. I just really loved me a good story
