If you have the money to eat food, you can save Netflix fees. Also, you can pretty much watch anything you want in 30 days free trial period. There are many shows on Netflix, but most of them are just fill-ups. Also, they don't really upload new good shows too often. Most importantly, US Netflix is pretty much the only good ones. (So, not really worth it if you don't live in US. They are also blocking DNS services & stuff, so difficult to get around it.)
There is no shortage of stuff to watch (tv series') on youtube for free. Some are old but they can still be good, especially because they're free. Paramount has a big free selection of old movies on youtube also. Lot's of good westerns. I have pay streaming services and I still wind up watching stuff on their sometimes.
