The mayor's name continues to surface, in part, because of growing pressure on Obama to appoint an ethnically diverse Cabinet and disappointment by some Latino leaders that he passed over New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson for secretary of State, nominating Sen. Hillary Clinton instead. "There's a growing angst. But we're still optimistic," said Janet Murguía, president of the National Council of La Raza.

Times staff writer Peter Nicholas contributed to this report.
Villaraigosa says he won't join Obama administration - Los Angeles Times

It's unfortunate that we can't deport Villagaroisa or Janet Murguia. Both of whom are determined to turn this country into Amexico.

Villagraigosa is one scary a$$ individual (sorry, I don't know how else to express it... the man is putting L.A. on the fast track to crap). I hope Obama doesn't appoint him to do anything except clean toilets.

Agreed. Villagaroisa is right where he belongs; with his corrupt destructive, gang banging counterparts. He is the typical, delusionally arrogant LaRaza/ Mecha tool. I was talking to a friend of mine whose stuck in LA and she said that whenever he gives a televised address he says a sentence in English and immediately therafter repeats every single word in spanish.

I hope the Obama Administration would never invite him to join them.

That clown hasn't got a chance of getting appointed to any office in Washington. Obama used him to get the hispanic vote, and now he is through with him.....
How he ever got to be mayor is a mystery...

It's no mystery, illegal aliens are allowed to vote in LA. They also vote in Chicago as well.

I am disappointed that Obama didn't appoint Richardson to be Secretary of State. I think that (ethnic considerations aside) he is infintely more qualified for that position than Hillary.

Thank God Chambliss won his seat, no fillibusters possible for the next 4 years. There is nothing worse than one party controlling every vote.
