What are the numbers usually indicative of a "landslide"? Anybody know?

Not really, there is a virtual tie in the popular vote, but Obama is pulling in all the bigger states (as expected). IMO, a landslide would be 400+ electoral votes..maybe 325+ to let Obama off easy (and to set an easier goal for him).

Maybe but that's way still early to call considering the west hasn't yet really begun to chime in with their numbers.

And yeah 400+ for landslide area.

Hardly, from the numbers, in several key states, if obama wins it's by a few percentage points at best in each. Not a "landslide" at all. FDR got one his first election as POTUS. Examine the map of that for what a real landslide is.

When Reagan beat Mondull in '84.
49 states to 1
Electoral College: 525 to 13

That was a landslide.

What's amazing is actually how close this race will still be.

Chris Weigant: Electoral Math -- Obama Landslide?
Now, there is no hard-and-fast rule as to what constitutes an electoral "landslide." Some put the number of electoral votes (for the winner) as low as 300, others as high as 375 or even 400. I'm going to arbitrarily (for the purposes of this and future columns) peg an official "landslide" at 340. Mostly because at 340, the number for the loser slips below 200 -- a psychological barrier. Using 350 might be better, since that guarantees a spread of at least 150 between winner and loser, but I'm going to go with 340.

And right now, 340 or more looks like a serious possibility for Barack Obama on Election Day. There's just no getting around it when you look at the numbers.

The above is from the link
