It's a desperate last attempt. They disappear for awhile, regroup, triple their attacks on Obama, hope the American people miss them, come back as the heros they see themselves as, and hope people are tired of Obama. It's very shrewd, as well, because if they disappear and Obama keeps his faith with the American people and democracy, and keeps campaigning, they're hoping it will make him look pathetic and stupid. And it might. Because McCain/Palin, et. al., think democracy itself is stupid.
I don't blame Palin for wanting to suspend her campaign for a few days. Every time she opens her mouth it's a disaster. I'm sure McCain's advisers are bugging the krap out of her--following her around, telling her what to do and say at every turn. Meanwhile she's got a son going to Iraq, a pregnant daughter, another teenager, a six-year-old and an infant child who I'm sure are all missing her. I bet she's thought more than once "What the hell am I doing?" I bet being a hockey mom is looking pretty good to her right now.
Yep, and that's after the nice interviewers.....throwing all that chum in the waters at the Convention is probably looking like a very, very bad decision right around now.
Suspending her campaign is the only move that may save her dumb a** at this point. If she supends her campaign, the McCain camp will no longer have to worry that she'll illustrate her ignorance and lack of qualifications during interviews and public events. If she's out of the media spotlight for a while, she can't make stupid mistakes and demonstrate her utter lack of anything even remotely resembling qualification to be VP.
Sounds pretty strategic to me...
But the fact is, the American people may finally *get it* and realize what a charade this is.. Maybe they'll finally act in their own best interests and vote, if not with their intelligence, with their gut instincts that the McCain/Palin ticket is not what's best for America...
We have too canidates for president, one is a real man who puts the country first, and then we have Obama, who doesn't give a damn about the country or the people in it. Like a typical democrat, his only interest is in the power of the office.

You should check McCain's voting record over the past year. Oh wait--he doesn't have one! He was too busy partying to show up to do his job in Congress, but you think he's a "real man who puts the country first." Get a clue.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – John McCain's campaign has floated the possibility that Sarah Palin may also suspend her campaign, matching McCain’s announcement that he would cease campaigning for president to return to Washington to try to hammer out a fix for the nation’s financial meltdown.
As the governor of Alaska, Palin cannot participate in the high-level federal government deliberations on the economy that McCain gave as his reason for suspending his campaign.
Yet, after McCain’s dramatic announcement, his campaign chief Steve Schmidt suggested Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, would also suspend her campaign.
“We're going to take the ads down. They won't be traveling. There won’t be rallies,” Schmidt said when asked about Palin’s campaign, according to a rough transcription provided to reporters.

In 26 years, he hasn't "solved the country's problems," so what exactly makes you think he'll be able to do it in the next few days?...at the expense of the democratic process (ie Presidential campaign and election process) and the general public's need to hear what their Presidential candidates will do if elected in a little over a month (ie Presidential debate), no less.
