Has McCain not quite got it yet? He has openly said that America wil be in Iraq for the next 100 years. His praise of the surge is based on the fact that by Flooding Iraq with military, the violence has calmed down. The Iraqi's are not stupid people. They are quite prepared to allow America to rebuild their country with American Dollars. They are building up their army and police with American know how and Dollars. They are building a new Health System with American Money. The terrorists also know that America will cut down it's forces in Iraq and they will again be vulnerable to attack. The Surge worked but can only be sustained by a huge military presence by the USA. That's how surges work. McCain is quite prepared to keep a military presence in Iraq and this will lead to more and more brave American Soldiers being killed. Obama wants all the troops out. This must happen. America should also reclaim any money spent on Iraq's rebuilding to be paid back by Iraq, either in oil or Dollars.
Nothing is going to stop Iraq's in fighting. Once America has gone, Iraq will have to find it's own level. Not Americas problem now. Iraq has the chance to become a great nation but America cannot babysit Iraq for 100 more years, as McCain wants. This is just one of McCains bad policy judgements and one that will cost America dearly in lives and Dollars.

Bush and McWar together will cause the downfall of the US.
History has shown time and again that warring empires collapse.

You are so right beach. If you look at WW2. The nations who were the victors are in economic meltdown, while the defeated nations became prosperous and thrive. There was a film called "the mouse that roared". It showed that if you win a war you take on the responsibility of the deafeated countries. This has been to the detrement of the "winning countries". This will happen with Iraq. They will prosper, just like Japan, Germany etc. and America will go down like a Lead Ballon.
