FactCheck.org: Did McCain crash five planes? (http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/did_mccain_crash_five_planes.html - broken link)

No. Chain e-mails and Internet postings that make that claim are mistaken. And the Navy commended his piloting skills.
We have had numerous questions about this widely circulated claim. Some say McCain "lost" five planes, others that he "crashed" five planes. All offer this alleged "fact" as evidence that he was a bad pilot. All are incorrect.
McCain did lose two Navy aircraft while piloting them, both due to engine failure. A third was destroyed on the deck of the carrier USS Forrestal when hit by a missile fired accidentally from another plane, triggering a disastrous fire that killed 134 sailors and nearly killed McCain. A fourth plane was lost when he was shot down over North Vietnam on a bombing mission over Hanoi. There's no evidence that any of the four destroyed planes were lost to pilot error.
A fifth alleged "crash" turns out to be a misinterpretation of a biographer's description of a flight accident that did not result in the loss of the aircraft. More about that later.
Totally ridiculous falsehood running around the left-wing blogs.

The falsehoods are all they've got. While it's funny on occasion, it is also very booooooooooring.
I personally think the whole "airplane loss" thing is another red herring. Things happen in the careers of everyone, everyone has the occasional bad day. "Bad" experience shapes a persons character, as easily as "good" experience. So McCain had some bad days with some mechanical failures, big deal, most of us have had the same, with our automobiles, or computers, or what have you. Who here has never had a bad day at work? It's how you handle the experiences that define the man's character. It would be difficult to argue that John McCain hadnt handled his trials with the utmost grace under the circumstances.
In our history, there is another Navy guy that had a similar situation. As a young officer, on his first command, he ran his destroyer aground on a mud bank. He was thrown some curves, but stayed in the game to redeem himself and work his way up the chain of command. He later became the architect of the greatest naval victory in the history of the United States, and ran the Pacific war to it's victory. Great leadership indeed. He was one of only a handful that attained the rank of Fleet admiral (five stars). Just goes to show, even the best of them can have a bad day, and doesnt mean you are not capable of exemplary service. John McCain is every bit as tried and true as Chester W Nimitz. I cannot understand how someone like Barry Obama could even hold a candle to that type of experience.
He spent 5 years in a Vietnamese POW camp, so that trumps anything else! Ask him about the issues and he will tell you what he thinks Obama will do, or that the terrorists are coming, or remind you how much time he spent incarcerated in a POW camp.
I wonder, how many pilots, for whatever reasons, manage to lose FIVE planes. His two antecedents were four star admirals. That could be the reason why the FIVE losses were found not to be his fault.
I mean, really, FIVE losses?????
It just does not sit well with me, no matter what excuses are given.
If every pilot had that record, the military budget would be skyrocketing - oh - well . . . maybe y'all are right.
So the OP of the other thread who made up the lies is still posting lies.
Do the liberals have to resort to attacks when they know they are backed into a corner?
When any liberal attack it tells you they are scared and worried.
Another liberal liar debunked.

Dont have to ask about that, I already know what Obama will do, same thing he's been doing all along......nothing
