John Weaver, for years one of John McCain's closest friends and confidants, has been in exile since his resignation from McCain's presidential campaign last year. With the exception of an occasional interview, he has, by his own account, bit his tongue as McCain's campaign has adopted a strategy that Weaver believes "diminishes John McCain."
With the release today of a McCain television ad blasting Obama for celebrity preening while gas prices rise, and a memo that accuses Obama of putting his own aggrandizement before the country, Weaver said he's had "enough."

He added: "There is legitimate mockery of a political campaign now, and it isn't at Obama's. For McCain's sake, this tomfoolery needs to stop."
Ouch. That's not good coming from a close friend.
And Obama's response:
Quote:
"You know, I don't pay attention to John McCain's ads, although I do notice he doesn't seem to have anything to say very positive about himself. He seems to only be talking about me. You need to ask John McCain what he's for and not just what he's against," he said.
That is interesting. I wonder what happened to estrange this old friend.
He's definitely got a point - this ad, plus the Valentine-heart Frankie Valli video that also obsessed about Obama's celebrity - it does seem as if McCain's teenage daughter is running his adv. campaign.
But why is he criticizing? Obama commented too. Just let the guy hang himself the way he thinks is best. Dont help him.
What happened to the eagle and flag approach? Guess it didnt test out well. So much for that boring old stuff, then!
HaHa...I said the same thing when I first saw the ad this afternoon.
Funny how so many McCain supporters say Obama's too young and inexperienced, yet the seasoned 71 year old is the one acting childish.
That there's what we call irony.
Ahrny?
It does make you wonder if the McCain camp really does have some killer ad campaign up their sleeves as rumored, that they're waiting til October to unleash. If they do, why sponsor all this damaging trash now? Good convincing ads arent this hard to create. Some eagles flying, angry Jihadists, John Kerry, Malcolm X, a little girl with a puppy, a mountaintop, a rising sun, a billowing flag - you're done!
As Jodie Foster said in Alice Doesnt Live Here Anymore - "Weird."

Interesting.
Wasn't he fired for doing a terrible job?
