Why should you lie about the candidate you oppose? For example, some say that if Obama gets elected then he will raise taxes and take away our guns. yet the truth is that he cannot do any of this without full backing of the House and Senate. Bush has learned this this year as his continuing vetoes have been thrown out and promises he made to get elected never happened. I have read the same type of stuff against McCain.

No wonder so many people hate political talk.

It is all one big scam/game.

Both parties are the same and want one thing, control/power, they just have different views on how to get it.

The mud slinging are just distractors because they know Americans just love harping on non-issues because many do not have the patience or education to actually comprehend large scale issues, i.e. the oil prices.

So candidates have to resort to acting like 3rd graders and make issues out of non-issues and comes doan to a tweeny party of "he said, you said that he said but didn't say" run around.

Voters gobble it up!

I think may be that it is not nessarly what they do accomplish but more what they would like to accomplish.

The difference is now Bush is up against the Democratically controlled legislature, so less things can get passed. It looks like the Democrats will control the Legislature again, so if he wins Obama will be able to push more things in without any opposition.

All of the people who hated what Bush snuck through in his first term under the Republican legislature should vote for Mc Cain (if the Dems will win control of the legislature)to keep one party from having too much control. We've already seen what happens when one party has too much power.

Politicians are the same no matter what party they belong to. Power corrupts. Pelosi and Reid can be just as dangerous and harmful to this country ,if left unchecked, as Cheney and Rumsfeld were.

Vote defensive. Make the parties work together.

This kind of comment is no different than the comments that refer to Obama using his middle name. Makes you look bad, makes your candidate look bad. Adds nothing of value to the conversation.

I disagree. By speaking the truth about the very pathetic, farcical McCain, KevK does NOT look bad. You do for disagreeing with the obvious. It certainly doesn't make Obama look bad. This is the most ridiculous statement I've read in the last half hour(I read ridiculous statements frequently here by McCain supporters). It adds incredible value to the discussion because it again reiterates that mcCain and the Republicans are pathetic.

Kudos to KevK for being among the enlightened!

Republican thugs like Rove lie & encourage others to lie. Today Bush's former good friend & press secretary, Scott McClelland, testified to Congress that Rove lied & that Cheney likely lied to the American people.

This is, of-course, disgusting since many Republican posters follow Rove & Cheney but aren't nearly as clever as their heroes.

Well, why do people believe internet rumors? They can't be that ignorant, or can they? All that stuff about Obama and the Bible at swearing in, why seriously think that?

Negative campaigning has a long and colortul history in the US and it can be very effective.
