Obama got 5 other superdelgate endorsements today, but this one is significant because of the position the SC Congressman holds. Clyburn is also the highest ranking black member of Congress.

Quote:
The South Carolina Congressman told The Associated Press on Monday that he has started to phone the state's superdelgates to ask them to get behind one candidate
As of this moment, Obama is 39.5 delegates away from officially securing the nomination.

And the story is that he'll get 34 superdelegates in the next two days, not to mention the pledged delegate gains tomorrow.
Maybe he'll get Dean, Reid, and Pelosi this week?

Looks good for tomorrow.

From Politico.com

Quote:
“We want this locked up sooner rather than later,” said Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), who has remained undeclared. “Let’s have the nominee and let’s move on. That’s the common thread among the uncommitted superdelegates. … I will be ready after tomorrow night.”

With only 31 total pledged delegates at stake in the two states, Obama cannot win enough in the final two primaries to reach the 2,118 necessary to clinch the nomination. But Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), one of Obama’s strongest Senate supporters, said that she had spoken to enough uncommitted superdelegates around the country Monday to determine that he will reach the threshold necessary to claim the Democratic nomination by the end of Tuesday evening.

“I think tomorrow will be a very big day. I’ve spoken to 10 uncommitteds, and they’ve said yes, they’ll be committing , and they’ll be committing sometime tomorrow.

Well how shocking that a black congressman would vote for Obama considering 95% of the black population has voted for Obama. So how is this news again?????

It's not significant because he is black. It's significant because he is the first member of the senior House leadership to endorse a candidate - and that candidate is Barack Obama, the next President of the United States.
