He's thrown them under the bus. The people that have helped him get where he is today. That have nurtured and assisted him in his political aspirations. That church that was so VERY, VERY important to him socially, economically, culturally and politically.
It's not going to help him that much politically as the damage has already been done and he has a long history there; however, it will ensure that if any further nonsense goes on there in the future, he can legitimately claim he has nothing to do with that church anymore.

Yeah, I just saw it on CNN. Apparently Obama sent a letter yesterday resigning from the church. Smart move.

I just love the hypocrites in the Obama camp. I guess being nominated requires you to be less than honest, hypocritical, throw everyone/everything that had value in your life under the bus and say whatever it takes to get elected. Yeah that is indeed the president I would want running the country. I guess this is what he meant by change?
Now, this tells me he KNEW this church was a racist bigot chuch 20 years ago and he only resigned because it was going to hurt him.
Just like his wife is now proud to be an American, finally now he resigns from the church.
I see this as a bad thing because it shows his poor judgement skills. It only took Oprah a few visits to get away from that church and it took 20 years and a run for the Presidency.
What I see is if he doesnt get the nomination or the Presidency is him running right back to that church. He is only doing this because of the pressure.
I posted about this weeks ago on this board asking why hasnt he resigned.
Anyway, I see this as a prank anyway. I just cannot trust anythig this man does.

I personally feel sorry for him that he felt being president was more important than being the man he claimed to be. I would never give up my beliefs, my lifelong friends, my true self. It speaks volumes about him IMO. It is too bad he could not have just stayed involved as a community activist and remained true to himself. Such a shame.

Let's see here. Haters complain that the church is racist, bad, etc. Now he is a bad person because he wants to distance himself from the same church? This only shows that haters will always hate no matter what.
