I like Whitmer and met her at an early campaign event in 2016 or 2017 but I don't think she's quite ready for a VP position. Let her get her legs under her for a while.

If it was for them to decide, they would choose "contingent elections" where the House elects the president, and Senate elects VP, but obviously it is not for them to decide.

As of now they are trying to allow people to vote remotely, but the Trump admin is strictly opposed to that. They'll probably use the virus as a justification to deny citizen vote, and instead allow States put together electoral collage to elect him.

She has not been around long enough to build any kind of a record to run on, her only credentials are that she is a radical Leftist who hates the President.

Sadly, that's probably enough for some voters.

I think that the main line of attack might be Covid during the election.

If so, then they're going to need to find someone clean on the topic so that Team Trump can't point to the hypocrisy.

That means no governors that had bad outbreaks in their state like Michigan has.

She may have been chosen before but not after MI has had covid numbers explode.

Biden is indeed roped into a corner though on promising a female VP, but he should be able to find one that's decent.
He'll probably go extra moderate to lock down the middle and that will make the progs mad but they've got nowhere else to go.

Example of what?

Constitution gives the States the freedom to put together the electoral college with, or without citizens voting, so they can cancel citizen vote in order to "protect people from viruses". This would be very good news for Trump, since the 30 red States is enough for him to win the election.

They are already talking about the virus coming back in the fall just in time for the elections.

The thing that always struck me was this: Biden was only able to make the promise that his VEEP would be female because he's already decided. Considering the timing of the promise, my money's on Klobuchar.

Biden needs a relatively young and competent running mate. When you take a guy who is that old, with that kind of medical history, with obviously degrading health, then toss him in the most stressful and demanding job on earth, it's going to kill him off in less than 4 years for sure. He might not even make it to the general election at this point, but winning would definitely be a death sentence. Whoever he picks for VP is going to be president for some or all of his first term, if he wins of course.

If I were him, I'd ask Nikki Haley. She would bring in lot of former Trump supporters.

Nikki Haley is a fairly conservative Republican. If anything, look for her to run for President in 2024.
