Interesting article from CBS...

"American public support for the military effort in Iraq has reached a high point unseen since the summer of 2006, a development that promises to reshape the political landscape.

According to late February polling conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, 53 percent of Americans - a slim majority - now believe “the U.S. will ultimately succeed in achieving its goals” in Iraq. That figure is up from 42 percent in September 2007." Continued in link below....

Dont know, but what I have noticed is that neither Obama, or Clinton is talking about the War anymore. All of their campaign issues have been about the economy... Thats a big change from several months ago.

Not to worry. This will definitely come up in the general. No way will McCain not talk about it, as well as all the conservative pro-victory groups who will be pounding whoever the nominee is. Good times ahead.

I'm truly surprised CBS reported on this little known fact. They (the biased media) have been trying to keep the good news from Iraq from getting out to the general public for a while.

Whatever happens with the war, if the economy shows no sign of improvement by Nov., McCain is in trouble. For all the disagreement over the war, when it gets down to it, people vote their pocketbook.

sanrene, my first thought too. CBS rarely, rarely shares positive news from Iraq. Maybe their slipping ratings are leading them in a more balanced direction. Whatever the reason I'm glad to see the increased support. And I firmly believe this news, if maintained, will continue to propel McCain into the front. Keeping in mind he and Obama are running 44% each in the most recent polls from yesterday.

The nation long ago gave-up on Iraq as a total waste. Staying there is not an option anymore due to the sheer cost. Leaving 130,000 troops in one little country when the real enemy is elsewhere is the biggest military/political blunder America has ever experienced. The economy is in free-fall [more bad news by the day. Americans are unsettled and angry with anything Bush. If & when Mc Cain plays his Iraq card it will already be overshadowed by a serious financial picture [that will also be laid in Bush’s lap. The issue is how much Bush’s war is costing the nation [& this point will be hammered in day after day by Democrats.

Only 13 more American lives & the total dead will be 4000. You can be sure that the news will only disturb Americans all the more.

Republicans are wrong about everything & the war only reminds the country of who are responsible for the mess = Republicans! Mc Cain is a Republican [wonder what the odds are in Vegas? maybe 100 vs 1 chance of Mc Cain sitting in the Oval Office.

Yes!! Exactly!! And since the dems have promised increased taxes, and more government waste and spending....bodes well for McCain.

Well, I guess you'll be voting Democrat since you love the current administration which has had so much waste and over spending !

Umm..no. Even though I am very disappointed with "W" and the rupublican congress regarding the issue, the security/foreign policy issue is of greater importance to me. And no way do I want a weak, pacifist/socialist in the White House.

First of all polls have been proven so wrong, especially during this election so far. If you believe that, I have some land to give away.
