Joni Ernst: We're Going to Take Iowa By Storm - YouTube

State Sen. Joni Ernst won her primary in convincing fashion, and now will compete to become the first female US Senator from the great state of Iowa. She is a farm girl and Lt. Colonel in the US National Guard.

Tea party Republicans already have a surfeit of young talent with people like Rubio(age 43), Cruz(43), Paul(51), Mike Lee(43), Nikki Haley(42), Paul Ryan(44), Susana Martinez(54), Mia Love(38), and many others. Contrast that to the Democratic party's talent pool of people like Hillary Clinton (age 66), Harry Reid (age 74), Nancy Pelosi (age 74) Andrew Cuomo (age 56), Dick Durbin (age 69), Chuck Schumer (age 63), and Elizabeth Warren (age 64).

Average age of the former group=44.7; average age of the latter group: 66.5 years. This is a reason for optimism in spite of all of our problems.

Don't worry. I am certain the Democrat party smear machine will say all of those things and more about Joni Ernst. Plenty of Democrat voters will believe them, too.

Yep, you get past the civil rights era leadership - both the one's you noted, but Rangel, Dingell and (feel like typing Blitzen), John Lewis and others of the CBB - and there is not much bench.

Can't count Little Debbie, or Ms Fluke or even Ms Wendy down in TX, or a real statesman's namesake in Georgia; Ms Nunn. All too young and inexperienced. The Castro brothers are angling for position in the next decade, maybe 2016, but still too young and unaccomplished.

pretty much the story of the dems bench.

YUP you got that right. Where there is Smear, there is Democrats lurking around the corner. Let the smears begin. We know most of us that they will.

Democrat voters believe in fairy-tales too.

Another rising Tea Party star who wants to impeach Obama...

Quote:
"So, shouldn't [Boehner] simply impeach him?" Conway had asked Ernst during the radio show two weeks ago.

"Right," she replied.
...except when she doesn't.

Quote:
“To be clear, I have not seen any evidence that the president should be impeached. I obviously do not believe the president is a dictator, but his repeated use of unilateral action sure makes him look like one,” Ernst said in a statement to The Des Moines Register about the video.
Joni Ernst tries to walk back Obama ‘dictator’ comments | OnPolitics

I know, I know, it's hard giving the unhinged base the unhinged lunacy they crave in a candidate while not appearing to be... well, unhinged yourself. Oh, the tangled webs we weave!

And just what is that 'unilateral action' that Joni Ernst claims makes President Obama 'look' like a dictator even though, as she concedes, he obviously [her word] is not? It's using executive orders. Which he is doing at a lesser rate than any President since the 19th century - specifically, since the first Presidency of Grover Cleveland (1885-1889).
Here's every presidential executive order going back to George Washington | PBS NewsHour

It's interesting. The Democrats have served up a flawed candidate in Bruce Braley. But, typically, the Tea Party has served one up as well. Personally, the impeachment talk works for me. After the primary, it just makes candidates look like fools. And on the off chance the GOP is dumb enough to actually impeach Obama, well... I expect it to be as big an exercise in self-destruction as it was in 1998/99.
