Let the Circus Begin, Congressman Steve Stockman to Primary Sen John Cornyn R-TX (house seat, vote)

Cornyn very likely wins, but with Stockman jumping in its circus time.

Firebrand Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman on Monday mounted a surprise primary challenge to Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), setting the stage for the latest potentially explosive battle between a tea party darling and an incumbent firmly backed by the GOP establishment.
Stockman, a far-right conservative who has called for the president’s impeachment, filed for the seat minutes before the 6 p.m. local deadline, confirmed Spencer Yeldell, a spokesman for the Republican Party of Texas. Cornyn, whose $7 million cash-on-hand far outstrips Stockman’s $32,000, is still the heavy favorite, but the latter’s entry into the race could force the incumbent senator to tack farther right as he tries to win over a corner of the party that has recently been skeptical of him.
The real circus will be the Democrat Party primary for 2016. You think the LIVs that make up the Democrat base will inflict another incompetent liar with no leadership or executive skills on the country?
Since the Democrat Party is preoccupied with shiny objects like an inconsequential Senate primary as opposed to figuring out why their failed party is now losing the generic Congressional ballot, my prediction is YES.
Stockman likely is running to move issues that Cornyn will have to address firmly. No to taxes increases and no amnesty in immigration reform.Cornyn kind of waffles in addressing where he stands on them.

I'd agree - it isn't likely to change the political equation in TX, both for the Senate seat and the opened up House seat (Stockman has to vacate his seat in order to run). We do get to see a lot of political entertainment in the meantime because Stockman is well-known for his off-the-wall comments (he falls into the Huh? category for Congresspeople such as Louie Gohmert, Steve King of Iowa, and Michele Bachmann of Minnesota). He's also pretty underfunded, whereas Cornyn is sitting on a chest of cash for his campaign.

Look at Indiana last year with Murdoch knocking off Lugar in the Primary and then losing in the General. Texas is a bit more Republican than Indiana, and I don't expect cornun to lose, but considering how insane Stockman is you never know what can happen if he somehow wins a Primary. it will be entertaining regardless.

He's defended militia groups; accused an attorney general of "premeditated murder"; appeared on a Holocaust-denying radio program; waged a one-man war against Alfred Kinsey; compared his constituents—favorably—to Branch Davidians; and traveled to Denmark to protest climate change while wearing a red blindfold. The man who bested his 2012 opponent by 44 points isn't the most ballyhooed of incoming lawmakers. He's just the nuttiest.
Stockman's first congressional victory, a 1994 upset of 42-year incumbent Jack Brooks, may have been the closest his state ever came to electing a gun. In the preceding years, Stockman had experienced a personal purgatory—the aforementioned Wisconsin drug bust, which he blamed on his girlfriend; a brief period as a "studerino" (his words) surrounded by "hot-looking babes"; myriad bounced checks; a falling out with his brother; and a year living in a Forth Worth park with another homeless man he compared to Lennie from Of Mice and Men.

We all agree no democrat has a shot to win in the general election, but it going to force John coryn even further to the right of Stockman and i'm not even sure that is possible.

Even if you did somehow believe Democrats were a one issue at a time party, you are still talking about 2 different time frames, one in 2014, one 2 years latter in 2016.
The whole executive experience argument makes no sense either as we have a group of threads where Republicans have fallen in love with JFK who never held the Governorship of Any state.
