Mitt Romney's strong debate performance Wednesday night has generated $12 million in online contributions, his campaign said, as well as a surge in volunteers and bigger crowds at his events.
The $12 million the campaign reports raising in less than 48 hours after the debate tops the amount Mr. Romney raised in the days after announcing Rep. Paul Ryan, R.-Wis., as his running mate and the Supreme Court's decision to uphold a major plank of the president's health-care law. Sixty percent of the money came from first-time donors, the campaign said, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Mr. Romney's debate performance triggered additional volunteers for the GOP's next national turnout drive on Saturday. The number of people who signed up to volunteer to make calls, knock on doors and sign up supporters for Mr. Romney has shot up by nearly 63% since Wednesday night, campaign officials said. The Republican National Committee, working in conjunction with the Romney campaign and its various state parties, expects to contact nearly two million voters on Saturday and roughly five million for the week.

According to one poster, Obama probably blew the debate on purpose so that the donations would go back to Romney and stop going to the Rep. congressional candidates so that Dems could get control of both the House and Senate.

The growing consensus is that the bully Romney won on style, and Obama won on facts. You can easily check that out - it's all over the net (you don't have to rely on the "lamestream media").
Romney reset his etch-a-sketch purposefully for the debate - yet again abandoning much of what he has been campaigning on. His message will change again tomorrow, depending on who his audience is.
What's not to like? He now cares about the great unwashed, and "always has".
Romney lied, bullied, and smirked his way through the debate - no wonder conservatives love him. Since facts don't matter, this is the conservative version of a "strong" performance (yes, it was a performance).
Question is, will voters be suckered by this salesman who is corporate fascism personified.

Did he raise $181 million in the month of September? Cause that would really be impressive if he did.

Obama was raising $6 million a day for the entire month on September. Now that's impressive.

BOTH candidates are raking in the dough as election day nears. Obama is closing in on 1 billion dollars:

"President Obama’s reelection campaign, which only two months ago fretted that it was losing the money race to Republican challenger Mitt Romney, said Saturday that it was on the cusp of raising $1 billion for the 2012 election after posting its strongest fundraising month of the year.

The Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee raised $181 million last month, easily eclipsing the $114 million that they had raised together in August. The number falls just shy of the all-time monthly record of $193 million, which was set by Obama in September 2008...."

Looks like Obama actually DID set a fundraising record:

"U.S. President Barack Obama's campaign and its Democratic allies raised $181 million in September for his re-election effort, the largest total that either side has announced yet in the 2012 campaign.

The big September number and a good jobs report on Friday that showed unemployment dipping to 7.8 percent shifts some attention from Obama's lackluster debate performance on Wednesday against Republican Mitt Romneyjob. (Read More: Do Debates Really Matter?)

I don't know, why don't you show us what Romney raised in September? Can you?

Actually, no I can't because it is a number that hasn't been released by the Romney camp, my guess is it wasn't enough money to brag about.

Quote:
Romney's campaign has not released its report for the month, and Republicans sought to downplay Obama's financial advantage. The party's national chairman, Reince Priebus, said he had been counting all along on being outraised by Obama and Democrats.

Maybe he will release those September numbers after he releases his tax returns.
