So...today is the big day when Romney will secure the GOP nomination. I wonder what Ron Paul's percentage of the vote will be and how he will do in the area of his congressional district.

In addition, we have a competitive Senate primary in Texas because Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison is retiring. The "establishment" candidate - Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst - will win the popular vote, but he may not get to 50%. And, if he doesn't, there will be a runoff. Ted Cruz, who is backed by the Tea Party and by Sarah Palin, is almost certain to come in second and a runoff would be between Dewhurst and Cruz.

The Texas GOP Senate primary became the Tea Party's target after Indiana. It will be interesting to see if they succeed. While it would be unlikely for Cruz to win the runoff, it will be interesting to see if there is a runoff.

In the Democratic presidential primary in Texas, John Wolfe (the candidate who got over 40% of the vote in AR) is challenging Obama and may get a fairly large percentage of the vote. Texas Democrats are quite a bit more liberal than AR Democrats and the percentage of Texas Democrats who are white is quite a bit smaller than the percentage of AR Democrats who are white, so it's unlikely he will get anywhere close to the same percentage of the vote. But it would be hilarious if he even got 25%-30%.

Ron Paul was at the top of the choices for POTUS at my voting receptacle. I hope that he gets a decent percentage of the vote.

The "establishment" is for Dewhurst. The tea party/ultra-conservatives are for Cruz.

I voted for Tom Leppert - former mayor of Dallas, but I knew he wouldn't win. I couldn't bring myself to vote for Dewhurst - because he is backed by Perry - or for Cruz - because he is backed by crazy tea partiers and by Sarah Palin. If there is a runoff, I will probably vote for Dewhurst.

They are ALL so kooky! I thought that Leopard might be acceptable, but then I read that he denounced his marching in the Dallas pride parades as mayor. Just another player politician.

Thumbs down Texas primary thread

The retards in charge of this state ensured that the Texas primary would be an impotent exercise this year. Had Texans voted back in March (the original date) then it would have been meaningful. As it stands, the GOP primary is no longer in question.

I don't think Dewhurst or Leppert are kooky (I definitely think Cruz is though), but I will miss Kay Bailey Hutchison serving as our senator. Dewhurst is almost certain to win either today or in a runoff and in November. Yes, he's supported by Perry, but I think he's MUCH more intelligent than Perry. I don't like him very well, but I don't think he's that bad.

It was changed as ordered by a federal court because of a redistricting dispute.
