Why do Republicans always say "Democrat party" instead of "Democratic party"? (liberals, president)

Recently, I've noticed that many of the Republicans down here in Texas say "Democrat party" instead of "Democratic Party", just to irk the Dems or for buddha knows what reason. Even the local incumbent Rep congressman Blake Farenthold says "Democrat Party" on his radio ad for re-election. Shouldn't the incumbent be a little more dignified than the rest? Is it some kind of code amongst Repubs, akin to calling Dems the "n word"?
What's the reason for saying "Democrat Party"?
You don't call yourselves Democratics, do ya?
For the same reason Republicans are in the Republican Party not the Republicanic Party.
Yup, they do it all over the country. It started in the 90s I think.
It wouldn't shock me if a lot of Republicans who use it don't know why/how it started and only use it because they heard other Republicans doing it and think that is the correct term for the party. As they say, "Republicans don't fall in love, they fall in line."
oh my, how wrong you are. I am guessing you are very young if you think this started in the 90s. it has always been the Democrat party, as I mentioned Democratic is the type of government we live under, not the name of a party.
You're older than I am and you know darn well that it was always referred to as "the Democratic party" going back many years.
Bull: I had a social studies teacher in high school correct me for referring to the Democratic party. We were discussing the varies parties, how they got started, how the evolved etc. Of course that was back when kids in high school learned about our government. Maybe in Texas they taught differently, but I doubt it.

Because they are far from "democratic". They have become more akin to fascists who oppose liberty and democracy in favor of greater state control.

Our system is not suppose to be democratic mob rule.
We are suppose to be a republic. where it takes 2/3rds majority not 51%
If you're a democrat, you belong to the democratic party.
It's for the same reason that if you're an aristocrat, you might be part of an aristocratic society, or if you're a bureaucrat you might work for a bureaucratic organization.
You wouldn't say "he's part of an aristocrat society" or "he works for a bureaucrat organization"
That's just plain wrong!
It's just common sense normal english for words that end in 'crat'

Did you ever graduate from grade school grammar? "Republican" is already an adjective, no need to add
"-ic" to it. "Democrat" is a noun. The "-ic" is added to make it an adjective.

Pulling a Palin? That's not a word, Laura.
Calling it the Democrat party is equivalent to calling individual members of the Republican party Republics.
At least it is for those who know the English language.

Nita
Wrong or right, the official name is The Democratic Party of the United States.
And your teacher was wrong. Some of mine were, too.
