Maryland GOP: Romney 45%, Santorum 28%, Gingrich 12%, Paul 7%

Republican front-runner Mitt Romney is well ahead of his chief rival Rick Santorum in Maryland with that state’s primary less than a week away.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters in Maryland shows Romney with 45% support to Santorum’s 28%. Twelve percent (12%) favor former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, while Texas Congressman Ron Paul earns seven percent (7%) of the vote. Two percent (2%) like another candidate in the race, and six percent (6%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Maryland was founded as an escape from anti-Catholic religious tyranny, and went through a time when the Puritans got enough control to outlaw Catholicism - complete with actual religious wars, church burnings, and fatalities (Colonial era). Even though Santorum is Catholic, I would doubt Marylanders in general support his ideas of government and religion intertwined.
As long as you're referring to the GOP primary, yes.
Agreed. Maryland is a lost cause in any general election because of the high number of government dependents and monolithic minorities. The demographics make it an impossible state to win. Too many morons.

Catholics are actually only 20% of Marylanders nowadays, which actually should help Romney. We even have a sizable LDS population in the DC suburbs (Not statistically significant though. By sizable I mean by east-of-the-Mississippi standards). Santorum is fairly popular in my hometown in rural Maryland, but I don't see any support for him in suburban DC. The three counties which have by far the most registered Republicans are Baltimore, Anne Arundel, and Montgomery, and those will all go solidly Romney. Together they are about 40% of Republicans. He will easily win here.
I already early voted for him If I'm paying for it, might as well use it.

We can have hope someday, in the distant future. We voted for Reagan in 84, after all.

You got that right. You see them the past 3 months voting for Romney and Santorum.

Yes and when it went to Reagan in 84 a county, Howard was Republican and Montgomery was a swing county......

Exactly my point - these things change. Those two counties have changed dramatically in less than a generation. I certainly don't think Maryland will go red in the few election cycles, which is why I said in the distant future
