New poll of Alabama voters shows a tight GOP primary race (Ron Paul, Congress)

A new poll has been released Thursday showing how Alabamians may vote in next week's GOP Primary.
The Capital Survey Research Center did a survey of 592 likely voters in Alabama from march 5-7, 2012.
Among the results, 29.9% of voters would pick Mitt Romney, 24.7% of voters pick Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum gets 20.1%, and Ron Paul has 5.6% of those polled, with 19.8% of those polled don't know or had no reply.
Well-liked and well-respected former Alabama Governor Bob Riley endorsed Mitt Romney today. Lt Gov Kay Ivey and Congressman Mike Rogers are co-chairs of the Romney campaign in Alabama, and they have support and endorsements from many elected officials.
This poll shows Romney with a 10 point lead:
"...Romney with 31.2 percent, Santorum with 21.6 percent and Gingrich with 21.2 percent. Congressman Ron Paul came in at just over 6 percent of the vote."

Both Gingrich and Santorum have been campaigning in Alabama; Romney will be in Birmingham on Friday.
let's be realistic, any poll showing Romney up by 10 points isn't a scientific poll and any poll that is part of the Education Assoc isn't acturate either. I will add one more thing, as we are finding out: endorsements really don't mean much. Will Romney win in Al? Maybe, by 10 very unlikely!!!
nmnita - what's funny is that both of the polls were done by the same polling group which is part of the Democrat-dominated AEA (until a year or so ago it was part of the Dem Party). The first poll is "likely voters", not likely GOP primary voters. I don't know who was polled in the second poll. IMO they don't know GOP voters very well, but the AEA is trying to cope with the new reality in Alabama - the Dem Party is out of power.
I know were excited guys, but lets wait until Rasmussen, Gallup, PPP, WSJ/NBC put out some results.
When they are not polling, you use what you have. I suppose if the poll is good enough to be reported on the national news, we can use it also. Some of these lesser knowns can, at times, be more accurate.

A win by Romney of 0.5% in AL will be huge for him.
I will agree the margin in this poll is probably overstated but it does point to a close race which is all Romney needs to split the delegates up and maintain his large delegate advantage.
