I like Ron Paul - I find a lot of his views bring forth some interesting discussion points. I think SOME of his ideas are worth considering. Many though, I feel are detrimental to the U.S. In my opinion, it would regress our nation where we'd have to fight the SAME battles over again to protect the rights of certain people - be that of women, minorities, working class, etc. I would like to think we can move FORWARD, not backward.
This may be all a moot point anyways. Ron Paul running for the GOP nomination wasn't his smartest move. I think he should have stayed as a third-party nominee and remained a purist. I just don't think the Republican base is comfortable enough with his ideas to vote for him en-mass.
Waylon Lewis, founder of elephantjournal.com & host of Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis, is a 1st generation American Buddhist “Dharma Brat." Voted #1 in U.S. on twitter for #green content two years running, Changemaker and Eco Ambassador by Treehugger, Green Hero by Discovery’s Planet Green, Best (!) Shameless Self-Promoter at Westword's Web Awards & Prominent Buddhist by Shambhala Sun, Waylon is a mediocre climber, lazy yogi, 365-day bicycle commuter & best friend to Redford (his rescue hound). His aim: to bring the good news re: "the mindful life" beyond the choir & to all those who didn't know they gave a care.
i would vote for Ron Paul, over most people in politics today. Huntsman is my #1 guy , Paul and Obama are neck and neck at #2. I like all three of them. Despite the policy differences, they all have coherent things to say when they speak. There's not really any other candidates who are coherent, so I wouldn't vote for anyone else.
if i had to come up with reasons not to vote for Paul, it's because he's an ideologue, and because he adheres too strictly to one school of economic thought -- Austrian economics. I like Obama for the opposite reasons; he is pragmatic, and somewhat creative.
if I had to draw a comparison with Paul and his Austrian economics, i'd say it's like running the same offensive formation every play in football, and declaring it the "best."

Reason #20: Ron Paul is an anti-trade isolationist.
Reason #21: He is anti-military.
Reason #22: He is a certifiable lunatic that should be locked up in a rubber-room, along with McCain.
