My husband just got a job with a construction company that is going to be working on a project at Ft. Bliss. I am staying in Phoenix with the kids and he will be coming home 2 x a month to visit. I think this is going to be a long project possibly a couple years, although I'm not sure he will be there that long. The company gives him subsistence but we have to find a place for him to stay. So my question is, are the apartments near Ft.Bliss only for Military? If not what are some good ones that are reasonably priced? Are there any other options for temporary housing in the area that aren't too expensive and in a decent area?

I don't know if it's feasible or not -- but fairly often you see people on craigslist looking for just a room to rent and quite cheap. That seems about the cheapest way to go.

No, the apartments rent to anyone (although many are picky about credit). Maybe the best thing would be a stay at a residence hotel for the first month so he can look around, get used to the area, and pick a more permanent living situation that suits

There are some new "by-the-bed" apartment complexes on the east side designed for military and contractors. Each bedroom has a lock and it's own bathroom, and a shared living room/kitchen. This is the only one I can find in quick search but I've seen others.

We looked at the apartments that the previous poster listed when seeking housing last year. They looked very nice and we were preparing to accept an apartment there when we were assigned to a house instead. I think we would have liked living there though.
