How can you make up excuses for these people when you have no clue why they don't show up ?
My wife has done many email/phone conferences. If the parents care they will make arrangements.

No, Until this year, Chicago teachers had not been on strike for 25 years. Before 1987, it had become an annual threat, but after 1987, there were NONE until 2012.

Welfare state 2.0!

Typically American not so bright idea.

Spend all the money & resources on the ones who don't give a damn; ignore the ones that do and hang them out to dry; and then scratch their heads when the ranks of the degenerates grow larger & larger.

Want to get parents & students more involved & interested: take these funds and allocate them towards creating theater & art education, expose the kids to the finer things in life & let them present their work to their parents & loved ones. Put that money into athletics or music education, books for the school library, DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE WITH IT.

Man, there is definitely a movement to destroy public education in this country, and it seems to be getting stronger & stronger with time.

Thats absolutely ridiculous. Parents should want to get involved with their children's education because they freakin CARE. WTH.

I've read of schools paying the students to attend and paying to get passing grades.
Now I read of paying parents to come to school for conferences.

I can only shake my head at how people view education these days and think we deserve everything that is coming to us.
