You have to link your checking account or possibly a credit card. I use my checking account and they always go right through and I have never had a problem with fraud.
I set up a separate checking account to link to my paypal account. It's just one of the free checking deals at my bank. I try to mostly sell on ebay and I withdraw money payed to me from paypal to that account. When I buy something and pay with paypal I either have it taken out of my checking account or I pay it with a credit card that I have attached to that account. I haven't had any fraud problems in the 4 or 5 years I've done this.
How can I make instant payments on PayPal without having to pay through EChecks and wait for it to pend?
I have no patience whatsoever. Echecks always takes a while for it to get cleared!
I agree it is a PITA! I called Paypal a while back, and they said I needed to attach a credit card or debit card to the account to avoid this. Since adding the my credit card, the payments are now instant.

I did that once. But for some reason after I did, they said it was already there.

I think you have to verify the card; did you? I think that amounts to (or did) paypal depositing a small amount to the card and you have to tell them how much they put in (or maybe it's a small debit); it's been so long I don't remember. I've been a paypal member now for about 10 years.

Call up or email paypal, and tell them you need to reverify your credit and/or debit card. They will send an amount under a dollar that will show up in your statement. You can also check for this in about 3-4 days online. Once you get the amount, go back to paypal and enter the amount. Once it ok's it, your payments will be instant from then on.
When you login to your account click on MY ACCOUNT on the top left side of the page; then underneath that is another group of options; here click on Profile and another group of options will appear; choose Add or Edit Credit Card.
When you get to that there should be an option next to the credit card in question to Verify. I don't see it because mine is already verified but that is where you would find the option.

Mine was a Visa, I tried guessing the code, so they disabled it. So I had to go to the bank to get a new one. Would that work? Would I get a new code?
I know it sounds petty. If PayPal wasn't holding me back, I would be up and ready to go.
