May God Have Mercy on EdwardA's Soul for We Shall Have None.

We just spent an hour and a half trying to have 1, just 1, personal attack moderated.

We have reported his posts documented in this thread as many as 6 times, with Senior Mods and Administrator DM'd.

And the mods refuse to moderate EdwardA consistent with their own ToS. So we declare ourselves Weapons Free and target is acquired.

As a place to start, I highly recommend the TED Talks lecture The 6 Killer Apps of Capitalism

Agree? Got an alternative?
People I know who are making $500k-1m in real jobs think that he is a shill, and not all that impressive. Others say that economics is a pseudo-science, yet others say it's just a type of history because no economist can predict the future accurately but merely look at the past and explain how something happened. I think he is entertaining. The six killer apps theory is entertaining, but means nothing without technology that Western Europe had that made it what it was in the years 1500-2013, i.e. through the barrel of a gun, dreadnought etc. If Nial Ferguson and Antony Beevor got a room, they would be in bliss, as they both love extolling the virtues of a nation that's practically got nothing to offer the modern world except banking and a gutted divided society ie the UK/England/Britain whatever you wish to call it. I regard him (NF) as being up there with Antony Beevor.

Niall Ferguson is better known as an apologist for imperialism, and is rightfully knocked for it.

Bingo. I am very surprised how much reactionary conservatism disguised as either enlightened western appreciation or cool brow libertarianism has made such a come back in the last decade. It's almost too vulgar to be "radical" or remotely progressive yet in chic to be pro-establishment. I think the furthest from a critic you can go is to be a market oriented liberal social entrereneur or "Third Way".
