It's 2 different certificates. Will having these help you get a loan for opening a small business?

Probably not. Most banks look at your credit history/worthiness and how much assets you have as well as how sound your business idea is. It would help if those certificates have something to do with what you are using the loan for, but most likely they want to know if you'll be able to pay back the loan and how you will do so if things go bad. And things DO go bad.

The certificate itself won't help at all. What will help you (along with the crediworthiness issues already mentioned) is a well-written business plan, which you hopefully learned about in the process of earning your certificates.

I think they would help you run your business but wouldn't do anything for you when you approached a bank for a loan.

What would help you get a business loan is having a solid business plan.

A business plan and well sourced and cited data will help more than anything. The data needs to pertain to your business. It needs to have projections of costs and revenue. You also have to show your ability to repay that loan. Also how you plan to secure your loan too, other assets you might have etc.

SBA.gov is a good source. Also if there is a small business development group they have all sorts of tools to help too.

Since when did a degree/certificate guarantee a loan?

On the other hand, it should give you an edge in writing a kick-$$ business plan when you apply for a loan.

If the certificate shows there was good information in the program. I would think if anyone has any bit of business sense they'd understand the importance of planning and solid numbers.

And the way you show that you understand the importance of planning and solid numbers is by writing a great business plan.
