I'm hoping for Dow to hover around 12000 +/- 100pts.... and Oil to hit $109 (the higher the better).

How come 2014 doesn't get any love?
Because 2+1+4 equals 7, seven is the Holy Number, the earth was created in seven days, seven swans a swimming, etc etc...

Well oil is already at $105 and its only Tuesday. $115 is well within reach and quite likely by Friday. I still say at least $110 though.

The Dow is positively in bubble territory. Given the current shape of the economy, it should be worth about half its current value at most. Q1 GDP will barely show a positive reading, like something less than 2%. Q2 2011 however GDP will take a sharp nosedive unlike anything we've seen since the Great Depression. This however is just the beginning. Enjoy the last year or two of "the good days" because it will soon be survival of the fittest.

As for the movie "The Postman", whether it happens in 2013 or 2015 its still coming within the next few years. We are headed for a complete and total collapse of Western society and culture. In order to find historical parallels to what we are experiencing now, one must go back much farther than the Great Depression. We are in the beginning stages of a hyper bear market as such only seen once every other millennia and it will last more than likely a few hundred years. We are at the beginning stages of a new dark age. We are Rome in 470 A.D.

The future is very localized, balkanized governments. Wouldn't be surprised to see a return to feudalism by the dawn of the 22nd Century. Buy gold now because within a few years, it will be the only money that can buy anything. The US dollar will be completely and utterly worthless.

Gold is only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay for it. It is not a useful commodity like oil or food. It doesn't sustain life, it doesn't provide energy, it can't be used as a tool...it doesn't do much except look pretty. It has been called the greatest Ponzi scheme of them all. In the event of your Postman world when people are fighting over resources, gold will be worthless.

The rest of your post is paranoid conjecture. You have made at least two dozen incorrect assertions. You continue to speak in absolutes when the reality is that you nor anybody else has any idea what is going to happen tomorrow or ten years from now.

lots of things only have the value of what someone is willing to pay for it.

like MONEY.... gold is a currancy like all money. its a competitor to the dollar,no different then the yen or pound.

its even got one advantage paper money does not and thats its use as an industrial metal...

not quite sure of the point of your statement. are you saying something that doesnt get used up in its use is worthless?

And unless the gold is in your hand or within arm's reach, it is even more useless.

I do. You have 1,132 days until It happens, again. This will be the 6th time it's happened. Last time it happened you sang songs about it. It will last 9 years, 1 month and 1 day, which is sort of a middling value in comparison to the previous 5 times and it will wreak havoc with your economy as it did on all previous occasions (and sometimes it caused a small number of deaths, and sometimes only a few people died and sometimes none). If it isn't what triggers your economic depression, then it will exasperate it to no end. Don't pull your hair out, because you won't see anything or hear anything. It won't be on the TV. At least not at first. It will probably take 6 months to a year to figure out that It is actually happening, but that doesn't really matter since there's absolutely nothing you can do about it, except curse like a sailor and ride it out as best you can. Hopefully, there won't be any mass relocation of parts of the population like there were during previous occurences.

Screw the "the Postman," Go watch the movie "the Road." People are eating each other to stay alive all over the country as the world slowly dies.....Funny, i didnt see anyone clinging to any gold. I guess when society colapses so do commodities. If you really think that society is collapsing then go buy guns, ammo, can food, and diesel (gas has a shelf life). Personnally i think your nuts, especially if your buying gold.
