Right, California also has a higher unemployment rate. You'll find these two correlated, since the states with the highest foreclosure problems were those that were most effected by the housing bubble. The collapse of the bubble caused unemployment problems.

But I have to say that I was pretty shocked when testimaony to congresss on the States identified Illonois as the most likely to go brokeby experts. They pointed out aht Illonis had actaully passed bonds ofr general revenues payments at 1/2 point above normal. They alos pointed out that state pension only averged 3.*% of state budgets and that was driven high by just a few.

Would be interesting to see the table of credit-card debt as a percentage of income.

Yes, but that is going to make the debt in Texas even worse. The median income in Texas is lower than the national average.

I use to live in San Jose, CA. Moved out of CA in 2003, best move ever financially.

I see lot of folks from CA moving to TX.
