My 6 mos. old pug has been on Innova Puppy since he was 7 wks. old. I'm just wondering if this is a well regarded food? I tried to make the best choice based on what I could find out at the time. After reading the other thread about foods I think I'll look up some of those mentioned. I remember a lot of the top puppy brands I looked up were really high in protein, and I wasn't comfortable with that for a youngster. What do you guys feed the wee vandals?

Dog feeding has changed so much over the years, hasn't it?

Since you have a small breed, the high protein risk does not apply to your dog. The reason you hear about high protein/puppies is because large breed puppies on high protein diets can grow too quickly, and that is not a good thing. So a Great Dane should not be eating a high protein diet.

We have an English Bulldog, and up until he was 8 months old, he ate mostly Acana and Orijen, and we have since switched to mostly raw. Innova is a great food, but you might want to consider EVO or the two brands I mentioned. When in doubt, check out www.dogfoodanalysis.com and see how your food rates. You want to be feeding a 5 or 6 star food. Good luck and post some pics of that pug!

That's a great website. Innova Puppy is given a 5 star rating, so I guess we're good.

I'll try to figure out how to put up a photo. He's black and stunning (in my eyes). After losing our two dogs last winter, close together, he's just what we needed.
Thanks.
