Since you have a small breed, the high protein risk does not apply to your dog. The reason you hear about high protein/puppies is because large breed puppies on high protein diets can grow too quickly, and that is not a good thing. So a Great Dane should not be eating a high protein diet.
We have an English Bulldog, and up until he was 8 months old, he ate mostly Acana and Orijen, and we have since switched to mostly raw. Innova is a great food, but you might want to consider EVO or the two brands I mentioned. When in doubt, check out
