I find that peanut butter works wonders for some small thing stuck in a throat. Sometimes a couple bites to get it and send it down the track.

11 Reasons Your Dog Is Coughing | Webvet

Our 15 year old Yorkie-poo has a dry hacking cough from trachea problems.

I did some research and this product really helps. Dog Cough Medicine - Throat Gold - Cough & Throat Soother She still coughs but not NEAR as often. It isn't cheap like over the counter cough syrup for kids, but it goes a LONG way. The first bottle lasted almost a year.

I have a new yorkie does does a fast hacking noise like the chi in the video. Is that what it sounds like.https://youtu.be/lN1L1pXdfZM If it does it most likely is sensative trachea. But if it is more like a long cough it probably is kennel cough and he needs antibiotics. You have to be careful with that because it can turn to pneumonia since he is a puppy.

My Maltese did a lot of hacking, we thought it was a collapsed trachea, after x-rays we learned she had an enlarged heart. She was on the same meds you'd give a human heart patient.

It could be caused by any number of things. Since this is the first time she's doing it (assuming it's occurring over an extended period of time) you need to take her to the vet to ascertain the cause. If it just happens once or twice I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't know if all of you read all the posts about this, but like one poster said, DON'T USE A COLLAR TO WALK A SMALL DOG.

It can damage their trachea (the wind pipe) and even break a tiny bone in their throat (Hyoid)
Laryngeal Trauma Symptoms and Treatments in Dogs | Pet Health at Wiki-pet.com

Quote:
Choke chain injuries, tight slip collars, or any rope around the neck can fracture the hyoid bone and/or cause compression damage to the nerves of the pharynx and larynx (throat).
