When my pitbull mix, Wiggles, is chasing one of the other dogs, he sort of bounds and runs normally. About once per day, he seems to need more exercise or has an excess of freedom, or whatever, and he runs 2 or 3 times in circles around the yard. When he does this, he scoots his rear end down and gets his rear legs up under him and he is as fast as can be! I've just never seen a dog run like that and I have owned a lot of dogs over the last 40 or so years. I can't quite see how his rear legs work like that b/c he is so fast; he almost touches the ground when he does it. Just wondering if anyone else had a dog who runs like this?

Isn't it adorable??
We call it the "Crazies" butt scoot. Both back legs are tucked under and the butt is about an inch off the floor. My MinPin does it from one end of the house to the other and back. She is just really super excited and happy and I think it is absolutely adorable. I'll have to video tape her next time she does it.
It sounds as if Wiggles is a very happy pup!

He is, the shelter named him for his wiggliness.

My small standard Poodle does the same thing once in a while. It's really amazing how much ground he can cover all scrunched up like that.

Well, as long as others see it, I guess he's OK. The vet said he had a touch of dysplasia, his back legs/feet point out and sometimes when he stretches his back leg knuckles under. I was worried that something was going wrong with his back legs, but I guess not. Thanks for the help!

I didn't know you had a Pitty.

That is what we call Turbo Dog in this house. Britches did it best; then Mahalo. Britches is good at holding his butt under, head up, grin present, and hop over the plants in the backyard. Goof ball.
