1) Most are hard of hearing so don't bark at every little noise.
2) Most days they are too tired and lazy to chase the cats.
3) Too lazy to jump up and steal something off the counter.
4) They love to ride and know better than to chew the seats.
5) The vision gets too cloudy to see every leaf blow past and bark.
6) A toy last 10 minutes instead of 1.
7) When they do run off it's easy to catch them.
8) It's easy to sneek out of the house when they're sleeping.
9) Cat food is no longer a treat.
10) They love to be vacuumed because they can't hear it.
So many other reasons that you did not list. Everyone wants a cute little puppy, easiest to adopt out. Senior dogs are desperate for a loving home in their end years and we have so many looking for homes. Gentle, loving, mellow I would also add to that list.
Too lazy to jump up and steal something off the counter. Be nice.
Also usually potty trained, better mannered all the way around, and give a older pet a few more years of love and probably a better life than ever had.
We adopted an 8 year old dog - who lived with us until she was 17. (r.i.p.) She was GREAT with our kids whom we had after we got her. She put up with a lot from those toddlers and was very gentle. Highly recommend rescue older rescue dogs. They are already partially or totally housebroken which is a plus.
