Obie has been happy here with me and he is a great pup. I love him to pieces! He greets me at the door with a wagging tail and falls over to have his belly rubbed.

He never gives kisses. I lay on the floor with him all the time and rub his belly and his back. He loves it!

Tonight I lay down on the living room floor when I got home from being gone a few hours and he came up to me and licked my face, neck and arm.

I know he knows he lives here and I take care of him and that I love him and he has been the best dog ever. I have felt he loves me too but tonight I got kisses and I feel like he is truly my dog. Feels great!

Obie will be having his surgery probably not long after my wedding....

Why not have it fixed while you are on your honeymoon?

That's so nice. There's definitely a point where the feeling changes from this is my dog buddy/this is my human buddy, to this is my home and my person, this is my dog. And it does feel good.

Because if there is an emergency we won't be home. We are just going away for a few days and our 'real' honeymoon is in a year.

It really does. I have always felt like he was my best little buddy and figured he was just a dog who didn't give kisses.

Then I found out last night he gives GREAT kisses! lol I was so excited. My son was laughing at me.

Pikantari, so happy for you and Obie. Is that 'Obie1?'
The bonding part is great. My Leo was originally named Aspen. He was a rescue that had a tragic accident, I won't go into details. Previous owner was not bad person, just misguided.
I changed his name to Leonardo Da Vinci as soon as I got him.
He knew who he was
Did you name him Obie?

Also hope you both have wonderful wedding.

Aww, thank you. I am so glad LDV got a wonderful new friend!

He was OBI when I got him and he was so sad and confused so I kept his name. I added the e. He is now Obie JUAN Kenobi. I thought the Juan part was funny.....

He is called Obie or Pupperoni.... love that boy to pieces. (even if I have a lap full of kitties right now)
