My dog, a 10 year old pekeapoo, has a tapeworm It really freaked me out too. He is also an indoor dog and I use Frontline 1 time every 3 months because he usually doesn't have fleas. After this episode of tapeworm, I will be using Frontline once a month. I gave him the Drontal Plus today. Once I found out what it was, I did a lot of reading on the internet on Dipylidium caninum. Does regular use of Frontline really keep this from reoccurring?
My dog was vomiting for 2 days before I noticed the worms. Did anyone else have a pet that vomited like this before discovering the segments in the stools?

Dogs can vomit or even have diarrhea from worms without seeing it in their poo. I'm not sure about frontline, some say it works and others who use it every month say it doesn't help on the worms. It keeps the fleas off but there are 2 types of tapeworm so your dog can get the other kind not from fleas and also there are other types of worms that frontline does nothing against. Worms can be a pain, we didn't have problem with worms until feral cats starting pooing around our front yard area (one part of it) and yup inside dogs positive for worms at check up. Thats just been recently before that they were negative.
