I'm not understanding why they were shooting at the dog to start with? It seems like they are leaving something out. Either that, or whoever was shooting at the dog really had no reason what-so-ever to be shooting at the dog.

Who in the world would shoot a dog for just running through their property?! Is it just me, or does that seem a bit ridiculous? I could see shooting the dog if it was running at you about to attack you, but from what the story says, it was nothing like that.

I hope she gets the max sentence! This is such a sad story! In my opinion, she shouldn't have been shooting at the dog to start with. If she wasn't outside shooting at a dog that she really had no reason to be shooting at, none of this would have happened!

That is crazy. In most places it is illegal to shoot a gun in a residential area like that. They might be leaving something out but maybe not. Some people are crazy like that. One of my Uncle's girlfriends shot at him with a shot gun in a residential area. The reason? He didn't want to help her unload the stuff she found as trash after she brought it home at 3:30am. I heard the shot at my home which was a few blocks away. It was funny (in a way) and weird to find out it had been her.

Here you can shoot a dog on your property. We are outside of city limits though and you have the right to kill them. (It has to do with protecting livestock) But if it is running through and the owner is chasing them I just don't understand it. I think that the owner could maybe take you to court over that (obviously if they shot the dog and not you with them trying to get the dog) We have shot near Coyotes and Heelers to get them to RUN OFF not kill them. Either of those could be harmful to us or our dogs and we still don't try to kill them.

Someone dumped off a big Pit mix and it was people aggressive. The dog growled at me, stared me down, didn't want me to move or do anything. I was freaked, I slowly backed away, got to the front door, called him and he told me to take the gun in case I needed it. I just took the stun gun and luckily the dog finally left. I would have used the stun gun to defend myself, hopefully it would have worked if the dog attacked me. If I had used a gun instead that would be self defense, I understand that, but to shoot at a dog for what? Fun or because you can, thats wrong. It wasn't needed.

That is such a sad and very preventable tragedy. It is so hard to understand some people.

Wow and here I thought the kids bringing guns to schools were enough to support higher gun control laws.
