We're watching the neighbor's dog. She is trained to not go on furniture.

My hound is getting old and the vet wants him to be careful running and playing to protect his back.

Yesterday, they gently wrestled while I supervised. They looked funny, like high school wrestlers down on the ground vying for a better top position. It didn't hurt the hound but it wore him out and he slept like a baby. Today he is keeping himself in the safe zone of the sofa. The visitor kept trying to get him to play via smelling him and stabbing her nose in at him.

Tonight the hound started getting frisky and wanted to play, but he stayed on the sofa keeping the high ground of the safe zone. Let's just call it his handicap (like in golf) to level the playing field so he has an even advantage. Smart hound. He was instigating all of this from the sofa.

She is all energy without any thought, nibbling at his legs and all crazy. He is unfazed by it and slowly planning his move to overpower her. He gets her to sniff under his chest to his privates and he's in hound heaven acting like he's dominating her. When she turns away and sits down, he reaches out in slow motion with his paw and paces it on her head. As long as part of him is above her, he's dominating her. When she bores with him for not getting on the floor for a full romp, she goes away. But he wants to still play so he pounces down with his front paws, sticks his rear in the air, wags his tail and barks! Still staying on the sofa! And she comes for more strange dominating!

Even before he was old, it was always funny to watch him play. He is a slow motion dog. His moves are always very calculated. He's sneaky. Sometimes he'll dominate us by slowly moving so that his body is over our feet. He stands there frozen relishing in the moment of it. Outside he'll sneak up on birds in slow motion. I swear he's part cat!

Hahahaha, what a great description of dogs having fun being dogs! I think this is convincing you more and more that you need another pooch! I love the slow motion thing. Great visual!
