I ran an errand yesterday and get back to the store to discover that they have expanded the recall yet again. Here is the link:

I am so angry about this. I've been feeding Max Innova for years. I just bought a giant bag of it that I'm going to have to get rid of. Guess it's time to switch foods for good.

Don't get rid of it, take it back to where your made the purchase so you can get reimbursed. The sad thing is it still bounces to Salmonella, which typically does not affect the pets ( not saying it can't, but typically no), I think P & G are simply trying to avoid any possibilities of people getting sick from it.

That needs to be said again and again. The dogs can handle it. People, not so much.

This.
I didn't open the link but pet food/treat recalls are very common and quite often there's no evidence of any animals being made ill from eating the food... the companies have just proactively done recalls just in case.
Not the first time Innova and other premuin P&G brands has been recalled, many good brands have at some point. Wellness has had 12 recalls since 2007. Wysong, one, TOTW and Blue Buffalo, several each, commercial raw products.

The FDA has a website that lists all recalls and there are thousands. Pretty much no single brand has a perfect record!

Actually it IS the first Natura recall in Natura's history. Yes, I do agree with it being a precaution.

No, it is not. But otherwise I agree with you.
Bearing in mind pet food companies shift allegiances and brands more often than banks.

I just searched the FDA link for documented recalls and Natura pet food and associated brands are listed back in 2007/2008 for Salmonella concerns and many times since. Under the names Innova, California Natural, Nutura and EVO. There are dozens and dozens of recalls listed under those brands, in the last five years.

For some reason every brand-specific FDA link I copy and try to paste just defaults back to the main, current page. But I already provided the link and it is easy to search the site for brands or keywords to verify.

Recalls & Withdrawals
Back in 2007 I am aware that there was a voluntary recall due to corn gluten contaminating the food (granted others use it as an ingredient to boost protein levels, but not Natura) I was all over the above link yesterday morning at work and searched history as I wanted to see outside of the Mars recall in 2007/2008. Then again I was tagging with issues that might harm pets in a more likely aspect; mold, aflotoxin, etc.

This is one source of my information

It’s been a rough month for Procter & Gamble Co.’s pet care division due to the first recall in the 21-year history of its Natura Pet Products subsidiary and mold problems that impacted the launch of a new Iams Shakeables product.

I took the food back and they exchanged it. He's going to be eating Blue Buffalo Wilderness now and so far he loves it. I've never seen him so excited for meal time. It may just be a precaution on their part, but better safe than sorry for me and for him.
