From what I've gathered, this dog was a well known stray in the area for about FIVE years. Many tried over the years but no one was able to catch her. They did keep her well fed though.

Eldad Hagar flew out from LA and rounded up a bunch of people to block her escape and they got her. These beautiful people are the ones who showed up.

He had a video stream of her this a.m. (getting shaved---what matts!), sleeping, etc.

I can't wait for the video of this rescue.

Here's the text from his Facebook post:
"WE DID IT!!!!! We got her!!!! 40 volunteers from South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia joined us this morning, worked together so beautifully, and Shaggy is now in my hotel room, sleeping comfortably. Want to see her LIVE???? Click here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/shaggy-south-Carolina"

Wow, talk about a team effort! AMazing she made it 5 years like she did, glad ppl were keeping an eye out for her and feeding her but it's no way to live, hope she does ok w/ the vet check and finds a good escape-proof home soon! She looks pretty comfortable for all she's been thru, thx for posting.

PS Just watched one of the tapes, hadnt realized she was older but I guess after 5 yrs on the lam, I s/h - the cough worried me as of course I thought of heartworm, given her location, but it was explained she was running from ppl for almost 2 hrs before the she was caught and was low to the ground where she could inhale dust, dirt etc. Poor thing looked so tired, I hope tomorrow's a better day for her (although in hindsight, today was prob. the best day of her life). Im sure she'll be carefully placed and will go on to have a happy and secure life (maybe even w/ a local rescuer or someone who heard her story). Looks like a sweet pooch, am sure she's sleeping good right now.
