Diarrhea, 3 times in the past 3 hours. Figures I wouldn't be able to dodge this bullet.

Hang in there! Hopefully it will be like my experience when we switched to raw last year in our house ( 2 dogs ). Diarrhea for 24 hours, followed by beautiful turds from then on out.

Fontucky, I've read that if you give them fruits and veg -- fiber -- with the raw meat, it helps to prevent both constipation and diarrhea. No grains, but try stuff like canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) and green beans and apples.

I gave Bandit his first dose of raw last night, and he's gobbling down his breakfast right now. He's a fan of fruit and veg and I didn't want to go crazy right away with bony bits, so he's getting a mixture of raw chicken breast chunks, carrots, apples, and kale. He ate it all...even the kale. He's normally a one-to-two-poops-a-day pooper, and there hasn't been any morning poop yet, so I'm not sure how the raw meat with fare with him. We'll see. Good luck with Nanners.

Aw ****!

(I put my own asterisks, by the way.)

How is she this morning?

Still squirting. EVERY time I make the slightest deviation from the Avoderm, this happens. I froze the drumsticks for the time being and will let her tender system recover before trying again. I can bank on four days of this.

I'll try pumpkin, but I'm not expecting her to like it. Unlike all my past Dobermans, Nanners refuses to eat ANY fruit and veg. Cooked rice and avocado flesh is as close as she comes to eating plants.

It's actually a blessing in disguise, because with Nanners I don't have to worry about my dog eating the Concord grapes off my vines, like I have had to do in the past. She has no interest in those sweet, purple beauties.

Pumpkin never worked for Artie. It came out the way it went in: orange and mushy.

White rice is a good idea, though. That supposedly firms up the poop. At least for dogs that aren't a pain in the azz. Errr, I mean, grain-intolerant.

This has been such a fun experiment. I have a vet appointment at 3pm because she's so sick.

Me and my big goddam ideas.

Vomiting, brown water out of her butt, she won't eat, she's listless... the next time I have one of these brilliant ideas, shoot me.
