In 2007 I was put on 500 mg of metformin per day for pre-diabetes(a1c a bit over 6). in 2008 my a1c went down to 5.6. in 12/08 my a1c went up a bit to 5.9 but my md took me off the metformin

in mid 09 my aic went up to 6.2 and in 1/10 up slightly to 6.3. my doctor upped the metformin to 1000 per day, partly for appetite supression as well as glucose control

i exercised steadily from 10/09 up to 2/10 when i got snagged for jury duty for a few weeks and was too tired to exercise

when i came back to work i got snagged having to work 6 days per week and have not been to the gym since february because i've felt too irritable and tired to exercise after work

this is my last week working 6 days. i will go back to 5 days next week which i will get back to the gym regularly(I burned 500 calories 5-6 days per week)

when i was on 500 mg metformin from 07-08 my sugar after work before dinner was from about 90-100, sometimes even lower than 90. most readings were 92.

now i notice it's about 10 points higher before dinner, more like 98-108, even on the increased dose of metformin. most readings are 106

today i ate lunch late at 2PM (breakfast at 6:30 AM).I had a large chinese lunch consisting of pork, seafood and chicken combo with vegs. it was not a cornstarch free order, also had an egg roll cause i was really hungry. at 6PM i took my sugar before dinner and it was 140.

was this because i had just eaten 4 hours prior or should it have been lower?

is the 98-108 prior to dinner any concern? probably not optimal, but not dangerous?
