avoiding carbs but having to resort to higher protein 40-70mg/ day to do so.

Which causes the most damage to the kidneys and heart?

Ok to generalize from ur experience.
Try to get most of your protein from vegetable sources rather than meat.

Keep your potassium levels from 1,500 to 2,000 mg., as damaged kidneys have a hard time processing it, but don't let it get too low as potassium is necessary for heart health.

A good source of low carb vegetables are Green Giant frozen valley selections. The lowest in carbs is Japanese and Italian mix. Substitute riced cauliflower for potatoes or yams.

Had a 1” slice of watermelon (seeded, high sugar) , first of the year. It put me to sleep within 15 minutes, for 60 minutes.

I vote for high protein and fat diet.
But consult with your advisor

All that said, my brother was told to up his “good” fat percentages. He is on a modified diet that is low carb, limited protein, non-grain, and as unprocessed as reasonably possible. He only drinks water and will not use any sweeteners except monk fruit or stevia. He is basically condiment free and essentially eats food in their natural state. It’s not a fun diet, for sure. But, it has seemed to help him, if nothing else he no longer swells so alarmingly like he used to.

Your trust in "medical professionals" is entirely misplaced. They are People. Sam as any profession there are only a small percentage that are good, a lot of bad ones that can hurt you and the rest mediocre with a ton of mistakes. Third leading cause of death is medical mistakes.

The diet you mention sounds reasonable. Most all sweeteners are bad. Just found out that splenda damages your DNA and had to drop it. Now I don't use any sweeteners except occasionally honey. Still waiting for some smart person to address the question asked in the O.P.

I don't check my potassium levels, haven't done labs in a long time. Expensive blood tests that are not that informational and reliable mostly.

If I start getting leg cramps I figure my Po. levels are too high.

But potassium helps keep BP in check.

I have come to disown the bad meat mantra. I think the bad effects are mostly due to the way they are cooked and no processed meats. I steam cook everything. I have had not bad effects from tbone steak cooked that way. In fact I think it's superior to eating carbs.

Protein from veggies with a few exceptions-soy for example- is incomplete.

Thanks your reply, but still waiting for someone to address the question I asked in the OP

I guess there are no endocrinolgists , nephrologists, no I.M. docs here.

Those concerns must be tempered with a degree of common sense. The US-approved daily intake of sucralose is 5mg/kg/day. A typical cake made with Splenda contains 10 milligrams of sucralose - no one will eat 35 sucralose-sweetened cakes a day or drink 18 liters of sucralose-sweetened beverages. https://www.acsh.org/news/2023/06/14...se-study-17134

Too much water can kill you. Everything in moderation. https://www.healthline.com/health/ho...r-can-kill-you

Seriously? Did you not say that trust in doctors is misplaced?

I cannot find an artificial sweetener that does not have reportedly bad side effects. Solution: Gave up sweeteners all together, sometimes small amount of honey.
