I am currently renting in Troy, MI and love the Birmingham and Royal Oak area for their night life, restaurants, activities, microbreweries etc. I am 25 and single and have a nice apartment but it's all families. I work in Warren for GM and will soon do a stint in Milford. I want my next apartment to be in Milford area where there may be something similar to the Birmingham vibe and a complex that has young professional. With all the privacy acts the apartment complexes aren't permitted to tell you the age groups of the renters. Can anyone direct me to a fun area in Milford, MI with and an apartment complex with more people in my age group?

You are not likely to find apartment complexes full of "young professionals" in Metro Detroit anywhere except really maybe the downtown/midtown areas. The demographics of this region aren't like other areas.

Apartment living appeals to such a broad range of the population that there will always be familes, senior citizens, single people, short-term residents, etc. Its the nature of renting.

There is no real entertainment draw that close to Milford. I personally really like downtown Milfords, but its more oriented toward families who live out that way than a 20-something hang-out.

Live around/near Milford, and make trips down to Ann Arbor, Plymouth, or even Royal Oak on the weekends.

Another choice may be Farmington Hills. I will still have to go to Warren at times for work and that's about half way between the two places. Any opinions about Farmington Hills?

Novi / Farmington would be a good choice to split the different, perhaps near Twelve Oaks Mall / M-5.

There are also some condos that come-up for rent that have lake access to Walled Lake and are near "downtown" Walled Lake.

I would stay put and eat the commute unless, at age 25, you are ready to join the chamber of commerce and hang out with the locals on the weekend.

The people I knew from Milford all moved to Royal Oak for the nightlife etc.

Milford is an absolutely beautiful city but no place for a 25 year old unless you are an introvert who plans on building airplane models in your freetime.

Milford area is great if you like the proximity of the Metro Parks (Kensington) and State Parks (Island Lake, Highland) for stuff like biking, running, mountain biking. There are groups that have regular group runs and rides out there.
