You're wrong, she's right. Why in the world would you pronounce it "are vahda"?

Nice try. The Ranch is named after two sons.

"On Oct. 19, 1913 the Denver Times reported the sale of a 3,000 acre Northern View Estate southwest of Denver and adjacent to the Perley’s ranch to John Charles Shaffer of Chicago, owner of the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Times. Shaffer bought the property for $100,000, and named it Ken-Caryl after his sons, Kent and Carroll." Early Ranch History | Ken-Caryl Ranch

Think about that for a minute... Why do people pronounce the same word differently? Why do some people prefer Coke over Pepsi?

Ah, can't escape the internet these days. Still, the proper pronunciation would be Carol, eh?

I tell you how to pronounce Arvada. It is pronounced the Ralston Valley of tranquility, peace, quiet, family, old towne, trails, parks, open space to the foothills.

It's "Ken Carl"...

Also an Ohioan... Not an Easterner (My DH is from VT though and he thinks I am a southerner)... and I say is Colla-rad-o. And 'round these parts () its Cue-Doba. I can honestly say I have never had to pronounce La Quinta, though, I know what it is.

and I say Nev-add-uh.

Good for you, both are correct, although you could stress the second "o" and not pronounce it as an "a". And it's "La Keenta".

I've been hearing a ton of news people from out of state pronounce Colorado correctly while reporting on the Aurora shootings. I don't know if they all got a cheat sheet from somebody who knew the correct pronunciation but it's good to hear.
