Hello,
Does anyone know if it is proper to build a fence along the property line or the utility easement line in Jefferson County for a residential property?
Thanks in advance...

You can build a fence on your property line (you need a permit from the building department). Utility easements can be eight to ten feet wide, and if you build a fence there you would be losing eight to ten feet of property. Additionally, a lot of people think that the fence line is the property line, and in the future your neighbor would probably assume that the part of the property on their side of the fence is theirs.

they can be much larger as well, but as long as you have permits for building your fine.
