So I've done some research on these forums and (surprise, surprise!) it looks like I can't have my cake and eat it too. But I think I can get close, so I'm just looking to confirm a few things.

I will be moving to Denver in about a month, working near S Wadsworth & 470. At 25, I consider myself a young professional and enjoy going out for a couple beers on weekends and most things outdoors. I also hate traffic. That being said, I want to live somewhere within a 20-25 minute commute of work, have access to mountain bike trails (from driveway if possible, if I must drive a short distance to trailheads then NBD), and live in an area with a decent younger population with pubs and microbreweries abounding.

Uptown, Cap Hill, LoDo, all are out of the question based on commute alone. West Lakewood and South Englewood may be doable, best bets seem to be Ken Caryl and Littleton. I've heard Littleton and Englewood both offer a lot in terms of weekend entertainment, is that true? Ken Caryl likely gets me closest to outdoors activities from my driveway, but what would you say the population dynamic is (YP, retired, families)? Is there anywhere I'm omitting that I should definitely be checking out?

Thanks!
Chris

You can live close to work and commute to the fun, or you can do the Tech Center, which is a very watered down version of the more fun spots downtown.

Rent or Buy? Budget? Littleton. Don't make it harder than it needs to be. There's Waterton Canyon, Deer Creek, Chatfield...

Rent for now, my buddy and I are looking to spend $750 or less per month (each) on a 2-br or find a 3rd roommate in a 3br. Found a few in the Ken Caryl area in that range, haven't looked elsewhere. I'll buy once I'm confident the program I'll be working is funded long-term and I have a chance to learn traffic patterns, rec areas, shopping centers, etc. Thanks for the inputs!

$1500 a month is doable in Ken Caryl. Look at the condo complexes. Mostly families in Ken Caryl, not much nightlife unless you want to go to loser bars, meaning old people bars with patrons that drink professionally….no young people having fun. Some of the non chain restaurants have nice bars/lounges where you can find cougars, MILFS, DILFS etc so slightly better than the drunk loser crowd. Most people will be attached to someone and not looking for the scene you are. If you want Ken Caryl you will have to travel for the nightlife.
