My husband is considering accepting a job Denver.

What is the average commute time during rush hour to downtown Denver from the following and back again?

Littleton
Highlands Ranch
Lakewood
Westminster
Thornton
Broomfield

Any information would be helpful!

Thanks!

All about the same on average will take you anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes on a normal day. Add an occasional snow storm or accident and double that number.

Are there two jobs to consider a comute to/from? Is light rail an option? Is work 7-4 or 9 to 5?

There are a lot of factors involved - where in those cities could add 15 minutes each way to your commute.

What would be most tolerable?

15 min more from Westminster, not 15 min total.

It really depends on what you want re: home size, price range, lot size, access to shopping, roads, hospitals, parks, etc. Tell us what you want, and we'll try to help. Also try doing a search on the suburb names, and looking at City-Data profiles.

Yeah many of the suburbs vary greatly from city to city. There is a fairly wide range of options and distances

Thanks,

I hear good things about Lakewood and Evergreen and those fit our price range. What would you say is the major differnece between the two? I want to have neighbors with kids and be fairly close to a little town center if possible, or at least a decent grocery store. We have a three year old and also want to be in a good school district.

Thanks!

Evergreen is a mountain community, kinda pricey. Lakewood is Suburbia, USA. Lots of different ages and prices of homes there. NO real downtown, though they just buiit a new shopping center they are trying to make the town center. They are both in the same SD, Jefferson Co. I would definitely do a search to see what is on this forum about each.
