Hey guys!

So, as you may already know, we relocated to Colorado last summer and found a rental home in Broomfield. We thought we would follow the advice to rent for a year and look for what we want. My husband now works in northern Broomfield (close to the boundary with Superior) and we plan on enrolling our children a school in Aurora. Because of the two locations, we are looking to move somewhere in between to accomodate both the kids and the husband.

We have no idea where to look. We were told that Reunion is a friendly and safe area. We're hoping to not spend more than 30 minutes commuting each way).

Would you look in Denver? (If so, which areas in Denver would be an easy access to the freeway--perhaps 36 since it would be fastest for him to commute to work)
Would you look east of Denver? If so, which communities are nice/reasonably priced/friendly?
We will be looking for a Realtor I assume, but thought it would be useful to get your unbiased advice first.

p.s. we also LOVE the view of the mountains...

Why choose a school in Aurora - they won't have after school play dates with children so far away. The commute does not make sense. What is wrong with the schools live where you live and work?

Agreed. Excellent point about making friends, etc.

Having lived in Broomfield and been forced to commute to Aurora (because my employer moved from uptown) I can't imagine actually choosing that arrangement.

Edit: I just saw you said "northern Broomfield" bordering Superior, that's actually western/southwestern Broomfield, not northern, and even farther commute than when I commuted from Northern Broomfield to Aurora... those extra exits on 36 during rush hour or in weather can do you in.

Exactly! And if you really are near Superior, you're in the Boulder Valley School District which is an excellent district. If you want private education there are many schools in the area, and in Boulder, which is much closer than Aurora.

That's a good question, and it does look ridiculous.
We are looking to enroll the kids into a full language immersion public school in Aurora. It is not offered anywhere else. Believe me, we looked at all of our options, and it is important for us that they attend that specific school.

Katiana,

We would absolutely love to stay in the area. We love Boulder and the mountains, and the proximity and access to everything. However, the education we are looking for is not available in this area. We finally found a full language immersion (public school) in Aurora, and are determined to have our children attend that school.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look for in-between areas (between Broomfield and Aurora)?

Where in Aurora? The city is huge so that makes a difference.

If somewhat close to the Anschutz Medical Campus (70/225) then I would suggest Stapleton.

Edit: It's not Global Village Academy is it? I was aware of their Northglenn location as we had a neighbor who taught there thus enrolled her child.

Yes! It is GVA! We would have loved for them to offer French immersion in Northglenn, but they don't--and won't add it to their curriculum, they informed us. Oh how we wish there was (public school) French immersion north of Denver...

Looks like Stapleton and the area nearby, or even Wheat Ridge (not sure how safe/friendly it is) may be the narrowed down locations for us...

Are there any homes in Stapleton with 2-car garages, or are we dreaming too big?

Wheat Ridge is awfully far from Aurora.
