I am a 22 year old student moving to Denver/Aurora and attending the Colorado Film School in the fall, hoping to move in early June, looking for a two bedroom in the 700-900 dollar range. I've been looking for a few months online and have found some close to area (80011 and 80012 zip codes), but every review I read consists of complaints of roaches, poor management, unsafe environment, etc. Can anyone recommend a student friendly apartment? I have my eye set on the area around the Community College of Aurora and the Colorado Film School.

I also do not own a car, so will have to rely on public transportation.

Urban or suburban, either works for me, as long as it's close to school.

Thanks!

Colorado Film School is in Lowry, a relatively new infill neighborhood in Denver. There's are some nice apartment complexes in the area within a 2-3 mile radius, such as AMLI Lowry, but you're going to have to stretch your budget or stretch your commute-- unless if you're willing to look at one bedrooms. You do not want to live in a cheapo apartment complex in undesirable parts of north Aurora or east Denver-- not if you can help it. If you want to live closer to CCA (not sure why you have your eyes set on that particular one?), there are a handful of pretty decent, modern apartment complexes in Aurora near the Aurora Mall (Miss/Sable) and Buckley AFB area (Buckley/Alameda), as well as near the redeveloped Buckingham Square area (Florida & Havana).

Thank you for your reply! I'm looking at CCA as well because you take classes at the Colorado film school THROUGH CCA. I'm hoping all of my general ed classes from other colleges transfer. If they don't, I will have to take one or two classes at CCA while attending CFS. AMLI looks pricy, but nice. I saved a bunch of money other the past two years so I'm willing to spend a little more if it means safety and convenience. I'll check out the other ones by buckley. Thanks again!

Try Huntington Ridge, on South Dayton and Idaho. Good price, never seen a roach, and not too far from the Lowry area.

Aurora, Colorado is the armpit of the Denver Metro area. I would recommend living in Lowry where the Film School is, or somewhere outside of Aurora along a convenient bus route. (Stay several blocks away from Colfax Avenue). Rents in Lowry will be higher, I would try for something in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. This neighborhood has much older housing, but something affordable could be found. Capitol Hill is only a few miles away from Lowry with convenient bus routes for commuting.
