...now I wish we can move now, not later!

This is just a report on my visit, if anyone is interested. (I don't have any questions, but feel free to ask me anything.)

Anyway, there was a family event yesterday near Salisbury, Maryland, and I decided to make a long weekend out of it and also explore Sussex County since I was going to be in the area anyway. Came up on Friday (my day off) and stayed at a hotel in Seaford (about halfway between Milton and my relatives in Md., roughly about 30 minutes in either direction). Even attended services at a small church near Georgetown (social-distanced, of course).

I got to drive around The Vines of Sandhill, which I liked. Unfortunately I got there after 5:30 p.m. on Friday and wasn't able to view any of the models. The homes looked nice from my car, though. I called the lady's number that was on a sheet on a model's door and found out D.R. Horton was done building at The Vines (their last property is the model, which is now available for purchase). Other builders are still active there (forgot the names, which were on some signs).

D.R. Horton, however, is actively building at Woodfield Preserves east of Route 1 in Milton and she invited me to look around. I spent a couple of hours there this morning and I am in love.

I really liked the location. It's not terribly far from Dover (DAFB commissary and BX; VA Outpatient Clinic, etc.) or the Lewes Ferry Terminal (we like going to the Jersey Shore) or Delaware, even OCMD, beaches. I saw a Food Lion right there by the Route 1 lights on the west side.

The model home was stunning (Coastal model). I also got to see some finished homes to get an idea of how they look like without all the gussied up (expensive) stuff that you see in the model home—just see them as a blank canvasses, sort of. So nice! Some homes have pond views. The model has a second floor, which has two rooms that can be additional bedrooms and a full bath. I was able to see a finished, non-model home that doesn't have the second floor option, so strictly a rancher. It was so nice i didn't even miss the second floor. I will say this: a third garage is almost a must-have because the storage space you can use it for will be amazing. No sheds are allowed.

I didn't go inside of the clubhouse (I don't even know if drive-by model gawkers are even allowed in it), but I saw families enjoying the pool in the back (perfect weather for it today...in the 90's!). Backyard fences are allowed but they must be either black iron or white vinyl and no higher than 4 feet. If your back yard can accommodate, in-ground pools are allowed. Very nice to know, if you're so inclined. I know many communities are super restrictive about stuff like that.

Hopefully, when it's the right time to sell and both me and wife are prepared to go through all that's involved with that, we can get into something in Woodfield Preserves (or similar).

I thought about buying there 2 years ago but settled on River Rock Run off Hudson road just a bit south and west of there off rt1. The build quality wasn't good from the model we looked at. You are close to wetlands so lots of bugs and critters. I didn't like the lack of storage options, small lots and high hoa fees. If you decide definitely get your own building inspector.

Thank you! Good to know.
